Indian Land Leases up for Auction in Anadarko

The Bureau of Indian Affairs plans an auction of oil and gas mining leases on Indian lands later in the month. The oral action will be held at 9 a.m. on April 27 at the BIA offices in Anadarko and cover leases of Kiowa, Comanche, Apache, Fort Sill Apache, Caddo, Delaware and Wichita Tribal 8.

The bidding will be conducted for the leasing of Allotted and Tribal lands within the Anadarko Agency jurisdictional area which includes Caddo, Canadian, Comanche, Cotton, Grady, Kiowa, Stephens, Tillman and Washita Counties.

Under the rules of the BIA, the Superintendent has the right to reject any and all bids and to disapprove any lease. The leases will be sold to the bidder who offers the highest bonus money on a per tract basis subject to a review by the Bureau of Land Management, Division of Land Management, and Division of Economic Evaluation. And on those tracts receiving only one bid, the bidder will be given an opportunity to improve the bid.
