Former Employee Accused of Stealing Data from Continental Resources

Continental Resources has gone to court, filing a lawsuit against former employee, Levi Pack, a geologist accused of uploading company data and creating a program to give him remote access to Continental data on his cell phone.

The suit was filed in Oklahoma County District Court and claimed Pack obtained information from the company computer last fall and went so far as to record calls made by co-workers, had a microphone hidden under his keyboard and installed speech-to-text software on his work computer.

The suit stated, “Upon receipt of Pack’s home computer, Continental discovered Pack had stolen 1.3 terabytes of highly confidential data from Continental.”

Pack’s attorney, Kevin Krahl told the Journal Record, “He denies he did anything to the detriment of Continental. He didn’t take anything. He didn’t improperly access anything. He was a geogologist there and had access to the information.”

The lawsuit claimed he stole seismic information and loaded it to a personal cloud storage system. The accusation is in the form only of the civil suit and no criminal charges have been made.
