Colorado Candidate Says God Causes Earthquakes—–Not Fracking

One of the candidates for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in Colorado is taking heat for suggesting that fracking isn’t causing earthquakes—God does.

As reported, El Paso County Commissioner Peg Littleton is credited with making the suggestion during a candidates forum held in Weld County, considered to be a major drilling area of northern Colorado.

When the discussion focused on the U.S. Geological Survey and its recent conclusion that the link between fracking, disposal wells and earthquakes is stronger than ever, Littleton defended the drilling operations.

“There have been earthquakes long before we ever did fracking. Let’s be honest. You know God is kind of in control of those. And not by us drilling down in the ground and doing the fracking.”

Littleton also told the crowd on hand that the Environmental Protection Agency should be eliminated. She is hoping to win the GOP nomination in June and eliminate Democratic Senator Michael Bennet in the general election.
