BP Cutting Hundreds of Jobs in Houston Area

Houston, Texas will see a loss of at least 500 BP jobs this year, according to the Texas Workforce Commission which was notified by mail of the company’s employment intentions. Most will occur in June and are part of the nearly 4,000 job cuts the London-based company announced in January that it would make this year. The 4,000 cuts were on top of the nearly 4,000 worldwide made in 2015.

“The notifications that we are making in the Houston area are part of that plan,” stated a company spokesman.

BP’s U.S. operations are headquartered in Houston’s Energy Coordinator and they are considered to be the 8th largest energy employer in the city. BP has at least 6,121 full-time employees.
