Trump Would use Oil as a Weapon to Get Saudis to Fight ISIS

Presidential hopeful Donald Trump is making waves as he talks oil and proposes a freeze on buying oil from Saudi Arabia unless the Saudis send in troops in the fight against ISIS, according to the New York Times.

His call came in a recent interview with the newspaper and the interview was published over the weekend.

“We protect countries, and take tremendous monetary hits on protecting countries. That would include Saudi Arabia, but it would include many other countries, as you know,” he said in response to a question whether he would stop American oil purchases from the country without its military support. “Yet without us, Saudi Arabia wouldn’t exist for very long…It would be, you know, a catastrophic failure without our protection.”

And his strategy in eliminating ISIS?

“Now I would say knock the hell out of the oil and do it because it’s a primary source of money for ISIS,” answered the Republican Presidential hopeful.
