State Converts More Vehicles to CNG

More state vehicles are making the switch to compressed natural gas. Thirty-three 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup trucks just purchased by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife are being converted by the Oklahoma-based vehicle up-fit firm called Heartland Energy Options.

The Wildlife department already has 44 CNG powered Silverados delivered last spring.

Justin Steckman is owner of Heartland.

“The AGA systems EcoSync bi-fuel technology was selected last year as the system provider for the Wildlife Department’s trucks, and so far, has proven to be an impressive performer,” said Steckman. He explained that AGA systems offers CNG conversion kits for the 2014-2016 Chevy Silverado pickup trucks with both the 5.3 Liter V8 and 6.2 Liter V8 engine. Both are equipped with 22 GGE fuel tanks.

“Of the 320-plus conversions performed last year by Heartland, over 200 of those conversions ended up equipped with AGA’s Ecosync system on them,” added Steckman. “Because of the new design and original equipment manufacturer integration, we were able to cut total build time to just over four years and general maintenance inte rvals to minutes instead of hours.”
