Quakes Rattle Town of Crescent

Hours after the U.S. Geological Survey released a controversial report putting Oklahoma as the riskiest state for a damaging earthquake in 2016, a 4.2 magnitude quake rattled the area around the town of Crescent.

It occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Monday but no reports of damage were received.

Nearly six hours later, around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, a 4.1 magnitude quake rumbled through the same area just northwest of the city of Guthrie.

A smaller earthquake, measuring only 2.9 magnitude was recorded around 10:35 p.m. on Tuesday near Enid. At least 17 other smaller quakes were recorded in the past three to four days across northern Oklahoma.
