Public Hearing Set for Oklahoma Weatherization Assistance Plan

The Oklahoma Department of Commerce will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. to receive comments on the U.S. Department of Energy’s 2016 Weatherization Assistance Program State Plan. The hearing will be held at the Oklahoma Association of Community Action Agencies in the Weatherization Training Center, Conference Room B located at 605 Centennial Boulevard in Edmond.

The Weatherization Program’s purpose is to assist low-income families by offering alternatives designed to minimize energy-related expenses. In addition to decreasing the energy consumed in the state and nationwide, the Weatherization Program also improves the living conditions of low-income residents by making their homes more comfortable places to live and maximizing the economic benefits to the state.

Copies of the draft 2016 State Plan will be made available upon request. Comments will be accepted on the State Plan until the conclusion of the March 16th public hearing. Please contact Linda Goode at Linda.Goode@okcommerce.gov or call (405) 815-6552 in order to request a copy of the State Plan or provide comments.

The Oklahoma Department of Commerce has administered the state’s low-income Weatherization Program since 1977 with 15 Community Action Agencies providing service to every county in the state.
