Gasoline Prices Dip Slightly in Oklahoma

Oklahoma gasoline prices have dipped slightly in the past week, reaching a statewide average of $1.86 a gallon, about 1.2 cents below the price of late last week, according to AAA Oklahoma.

The new average is 52 cents higher than the price on Feb. 13, according to Chuck Mai, spokesman for the organization.

“The nationwide pump price average is still rising but the reverse is true in most of Oklahoma. However, nobody knows if prices will continue to trend lower or if this is just a short intermission in the climb of gas prices. Many refineries are still conducting seasonal maintenance, which has led to a decline in fuel production, plus demand is up. Both of these factors point to higher retail prices.”

Guymon still has the lowest average in the state at $1.79, the only city to be in the $1.70 range. The new average for Guymon is an increase of 9 cents a gallon over the past week. Shawnee’s average is $1.80. Ardmore went from a $1.79 average last week to $1.82 a gallon. The highest prices are in Stillwater where the average is $1.95 per gallon. Altus has an average of $1.91.

The average in Tulsa is $1.84 while the average in Oklahoma City is $1.83, an increase of only 2 cents in the past several days.

The national average rose above the $2 leel last Thursday for the first time in 2016 and this week, the average is up to $2.04 a gallon, or 30 cents more for the month.

Oklahoma still has the fourth-lowest statewide gas price average of all the states, only lower than the $1.83 average in New Jersey, Missouri where the average is $1.85 and Alabama where the price average is $1.86.
