Downturn Forces D and L to Make Layoffs

After doubling its workforce in the past five years and expanding manufacturing operations to more than 150,000 square feet, Tulsa-based D and L Oil Tools has felt the impact of the spreading energy downturn.

The company announced this week it is laying off 78 workers which is nearly 25 percent of the entire workforce.

“As a local family business that has worked diligently to see and sustain employee growth over the past 25 years, it is especially difficult to make decisions such as this,” said Lee Eslicker, Founder and President of D and L Tools. “The current price of oil is having ripple effects across the industry and unfortunately our efforts to proactively defend against the downturn have not been enough.”

The laid-off workers are getting help from the Tulsa Regional Chamber of Commerce in finding new jobs.

D and L Oil Tooks designs, manufactures and assembles downhole equipment for customers in domestic and international markets.
