Three Oklahoma companies made at least the top 300 of the latest Forbes list of 500 best companies to work for in the U.S. They were Tulsa-based QuikTrip which ranked 81st; the University of Oklahoma which was ranked 86 and Williams Cos. of Tulsa. It was ranked 116.
An energy company, Marathon Petroleum of Findlay, Ohio with more than 45,000 employees was ranked the best place to be employed in the U.S.
Forbes chose the 500 best companies based on the result of an independent survey conducted of more than 30,000 American employees working at large companies and institutions. The employees were contacted anonymously online without the involvement of their employers. The workers were asked on a scale of zero to ten how likely they would recommend their employer to someone else and how they felt about the other employers in their industry. At least 25 industries ranging from corporate giants to universities and government agencies.
