AEP Moves to Spin Off two Subsidiaries into Stand-Alones

Oklahoma City-based American Energy Partners LP has announced plans to spin off its American Energy-Permian Basin LP and American Energy-Woodford LP into independent and stand-alone companies.

The announcement comes nearly a year after the company made the same move with Ascent Resources and Traverse Midstream Partners. Executives with AEP say it probably won’t be the last of the moves to spinoff subsidiaries.

The spinoff moves fall in line with the business model laid out by CEO Aubrey McClendon who co-founded the company after he left Chesapeake Energy. McClendon

sressed two years ago he wanted make the moves after private equity partners indicated they were interested in companies that focused on specific oil and natural gas plays. And the focus has moved internationally as OK Energy Today reported in January when American Energy Partners signed a $500 million deal with Argentina state oil company YPF for oil and natural gas development.
