New Member to Help Study Oklahoma’s Tax Incentives

Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin announced this week the appointment of James Denton to the Incentive Evaluation Commission, an eight-member commission that will study the state’s tax incentives.

Denton is from Edmond and is an auditor with a private auditing firm.

“This commisson’s work is vital, since there is little evidence Oklahoma has ever studied its tax incentives to determine which ones are beneficial to the state as a whole,” said Gov. Fallin in making the announcement. “James Denton is ideally suited to aid in this review because of his substantial experience as an auditor.”

Denton is a certified public account and president and chief executive officer of Arledge and Associated, an Edmond-based accounting firm. He joined the firm when it was formed in 1984 and became a managing partner in 2007.

The Incentive Evaluation Commission was created by legislation in 2014 and is to review each tax incentive once every four years. Its first meeting will be Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. in room 419B of the State Capitol. It is to report its findings to the governor and the legislature by Dec. 15 each year. The first report will be considered by legislators in the 2017 session.
