Kingfisher and Stephens Counties Site of Large Producing New Wells

Those $35 a barrel oil prices aren’t stopping production by energy companies in Oklahoma as some are reporting 1,400 a barrel a day wells in the state according to the Completion Reports published on OK Energy Today.

Newfield Exploration of Houston hasn’t let up much in the downturn and filed completion reports on some wells in Kingfisher and Stephens Counties where the production ranged from 802 barrels a day all the way up to 1,617 a day. Admittedly, those wells were drilled last summer and the reports were just filed, indicating that Newfield apparently waited to see if oil prices were going to rebound before putting the wells into active production.

Newfield had three BAXENDALE wells drilled in Stephens County and the Woodford zone, the largest which produced 1,617 barrels a day in a site several miles north of the community of Foster. The well’s spud date was July 31. Drilling was finished Sept. 2 and completion was Nov. 9. Another large BAXENDALE well produced 1,483 barrels of oil a day along with 3,700 mcf of natural gas. It was next to the larger well, again just north of Foster. Its spud date was back on June 23 with drilling finished on July 26 and completion on Nov. 9. A third BAXENDALE well, drilled in the same vicinity produced 851 barrels of oil a day along with 3,584 mcf of gas. Like the second well, it had a June spud date with drilling finished in July and completion in November.

Newfield had a strong McClain County well near the town of Dibble. The ALVIS well produced 766 barrels daily after a spud date in mid-September with drilling finished Oct. 18 and completion the day after Christmas 2015.

In the northwest, SandRidge Energy had a 686-barrel a day oil well between the towns of Waynoka and carmen. The McCRAY well was spudded in October, drilling was finished in mid-November and completion was Dec. 23, 2015.

Newfield also reported three successful wells in the Mississippian in Kingfisher county ranging from 802 barrels a day to 1,385 a day. The GARMS well located west of Kingfisher and just north of the Chisholm Trail Technology Center produced the 1,385 barrels of oil daly along with 1,335 mcf of gas. Spud date was Sept. 19 and drilling was finished Oct. 13, followed by completion on Nov. 14.

A BIEHLER well drilled in the same area produced 1,319 barrels of oil daily along with 1,616 mcf of gas. It was completed Nov. 17, 2015.

The smallest well was drilled 12 miles southwest of Kingfisher. The STANGL well produced 802 barrels of oil daily along with 1,088 mcf of gas. It was drilled beginning June 30, 2015 and completion was dated Sept. 22, 2015.
