Laid off Energy Workers Eligible for Federal Jobless Help

Decisions by the U.S. Department of Labor mean workers laid off at four companies in the state in the past year are eligible for assistance. Among the workers are those let go by Cimarron Energy in Marlow. They were ruled eligible because of increased imports or a shift in production out of the country.

The Labor Department report said “all workers of Cimarron Energy and On-Site Leased Workers from Express Personnel Marlow, OK who became totally or partially separate from employment after June 9, 2014” are eligible to apply for Trade Adjustment Assistance.

So are workers let go at Alorica after Feb. 21, 201.

A similar ruling by the Labor Department applied to displaced workers of Verizon Business network Service, Inc. Order Management of Tulsa who were let go in June, 2014. The fourth firm was Sercel GRC Corp., a subsidiary of Sercel Inc. of Tulsa. The ruling also applies to on-site leased workers from Abundant Solutions, Accounting Principles, Bennett Engineering, GDH Consulting, Manpower Temp and Rowland Group of Tulsa who were let go June 9, 2014.

Those former employees who want to apply for the Trade Act benefits should contact their nearest Workforce Oklahoma Center at 1-888-980-WORK. The assistance is the result of the Trade Act of 1974 and it’s meant to help laid-off workers return to suitable employment as quickly as possible.
