Grady County Getting Enel Green Wind Farm

Grady County is the site of construction of one of the latest wind farm projects in Oklahoma, one begun by Enel Green Power North America Inc. Enel is building a 108-megawatt farm called the Drift Sand and work is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Drift Sand will be the second Enel wind farm in the state for Arkansas Electric Cooperative and will provide electricity to more than 500,000 customers of cooperatives in Arkansas.

Enel first entered Oklahoma with wind farm construction in 2012 and now has six projects creating 958 megawatts of electricity in the state. The Drift Sand farm will result in a total of 1,066 megawatts of capacity for Enel in the state.

“With the start of yet another construction site, we continue to solidify our company’s ongoing investment in the U.S. said Francesco Venturini, CEO and general manager of Enel Green Power. “Looking to the future, EGP is well-positioned to be a leading player in the ongoing growth in the renewable energy market in the U.S.”

Other Enel wind farms are located in Kiowa and Washita Counties, one in Texas County and another in Osage County.
