Devon Spends Nearly $200,000 Fighting Denton’s Proposed Fracking Ban







Oklahoma City-based Devon Energy is one of those energy firms that has helped fund opposition to a frack ban to be decided Tuesday in Denton, Texas. The company has contributed $195,000 toward the fight against a move by some city residents and environmentalists who want fracking banned within the city limits.

Devon, according to the Dallas Business Journal was among major oil and gas firms that spent nearly $700,000 against the city’s proposed ban. Devon’s contributions matched those of XTO Energy and EnerVest. All three contributed $120,000 in their second report and $75,000 in the first report.

Chevron Energy contributed $45,000 while Occidental kicked in $50,000.
